Department of Economics



Department of Economics has been established in the year 1947 with Under-Graduate courses. Considering the requirement, the department started Post-Graduation courses in Economics in the year 1959. The department has an important role in developing awareness about economic difficulties among the society. The department has played crucial role in developing a problem solving mechanism for people living in rural areas especially. Dr. Halbe Ex- Head of the department is a pioneer of National Service Scheme (NSS) implemented in all colleges in India. The department runs basic courses in economics such as, Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, International Trade, International Finance, Agriculture Economics, Labour Economics Modern Banking etc. at UG as well as PG level. The faculty members from the department participate in national as well as international seminars and conferences every year and have good academic contribution in the subject.
